About Metricly

Metricly is a SaaS-based adaptive monitoring solution that helps organizations monitor cloud services, applications, infrastructure, and public cloud costs. Metricly’s advanced machine learning algorithms learn the behavior and workload patterns of your environment to optimize your resource allocation, reduce your cloud spending, and identify performance anomalies that matter to your business.

About The Job

The job is all about delivery, are you familiar with Spinnaker? Jenkins? Are you in love with Kubernetes? Understand the value of helm charts? Do you like building simple but powerful microservices? Dealing with and learning powerful and big NoSQL databases? If you answered yes to all those questions, you are the ideal candidate. We’re ingesting over a billion data points a day and growing, we’ve got some interesting challenges in our next generation delivery pipelines that we could use your help with! Additionally, we’re looking for engineers that embody our culture and core values of integrity, innovation, teamwork, determination, and fun!

Responsibilities

  • Design and code applications and services in support of the Metricly Platform
  • Write unit, acceptance and integration tests
  • Instrument your code for performance tracking
  • Deploy and operate applications
  • Collaborate with others including code and design reviews
  • Work in a Lean/Kanban and startup environment

Desired Skills

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Spinnaker and AWS
  • Experience building microservices with Docker containers and at least one of Node.js, Java, Scala or Go
  • Experience with dev tools – Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Stash, Confluence, Bamboo), Git
  • Experience troubleshooting performance problems on application servers
  • Experience configuring/managing Linux-based environments
  • At a minimum, understanding of Messaging, Indexing and NoSQL technologies such as Kafka, Cassandra and ElasticSearch.

Personal Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, quick learner, detail oriented and well organized.
  • Independent problem solver with superior technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in small teams with minimum supervision
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, start-up environments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills

Compensation

  • Metricly values talent and offers a competitive salary, stock options, and a benefits package commensurate with qualification and experience.
  • Fresh graduates as well as seasoned professionals are encouraged to apply.

NOTICE:

  • The person would be on-call for 1 week every 8-10 weeks in case something goes wrong on the platform. The person would then escalate to others if the issue needs attention. It would take 3-6 months of training before the person is scheduled to be on-call.
  • It is usually more customary for support and operations teams to be on-call so hopefully it would be less controversial than having developers on-call (which is becoming more customary based on the more modern DevOps model in SaaS companies).
  • Day to day, we would expect the engineer to typically work an 8 hour day Monday through Friday, preferably 11 AM - 7 PM EET/EEST to allow for ~3-4 hours of overlap with our US team.
